What Kind Of Seducer Are You?

According to Robert Greene Author of “The Art of Seduction”, there are 10 different types of seducer and each preys on his/her "victims" in a different way. I’m only going to get into the three that I think apply to the high school situation.

Let’s start with my personal favorite, {The Rake}. When a rake desires a woman, " He will go to the ends of the earth for her". Then just when she thinks she's got him - wham, he is "disloyal, dishonest and amoral". Of course, as any female will attest, that only adds to his appeal. I myself am living proof of this. You’ve probably met a rake at your school, maybe the Jock that’s always got at least two girlfriends at one time. Or the James dean want to be bad boy who’s “who gives a shit” attitude has girls lined up to be with him. Women love a challenge; they like to feel like they could be women who finally gets through to you and change your philandering ways. This is why “Nice guys finish last.” If you’re a rake by nature, own it. Never apologize for what comes naturally to you. You’ll soon find that the girls making bitchy remarks about how much of a player you are, secretly would love it if you sent some attention there way.

{The Charmer}, is sweetness and light itself, someone who will "feel your pain". This kind of seduction, however, is more mental than physical. Charmers are kings of the mind fuck. Soothing and understanding, they make a girl feel like most amazing and wanted person in the world. They have the uncanny ability to make themselves seem like whatever it is the girls needs in that moment. He might be her Knight in shinning armor one day and her dreamy poet the next. By becoming her fantasy the girl tends to be overwhelmed with a feeling of serendipity, as if this must be “meant to be”. Now in a high school setting you probably know this guy as the class president or just all around popular kid that you can’t help but like. He’s the kind of person that often floats from group to group and is able to relate to everyone. Being a charmer definitely has it’s up side, it’ nice to have everyone like you. But keeping up the appearance of being perfect can be very exhausting.

A {Dandy} is pretty much what you would call a metro sexual these days. As Mr. Greene says "The Dandy appeals to the narcissism of each sex: to a woman they are psychologically female, to a man they are male. Dandies fascinate and seduce in large numbers. Use the power of the Dandy to create an ambiguous, alluring presence that stirs repressed desire" Maybe it’s because homosexuality is such a big issue these days that has created really strong views on the opposite sides of the spectrum but the men of today are so afraid of being considered “gay” that they do the “manly man” things and are more concerned with what other men will think of them than what women actually want: If you take too much care of you look “your gay” so better to throw in a 10 yr old shirt with your everyday jeans, if you find elaborates ways to please your girlfriend “you are acting like a girl” so better go for the easy catch: flowers, chocolates and the occasional restaurant. All of that makes them forget that ALL women have a hint of narcissism in them (ever wonder why we like to talk about ourselves so much?) so next time is best to consider that having feminine traits is not bad in any way. It’s surprising how much hot girls flock to a guy with “gay” tendencies. You’ll notice the arty drama kid or the moody emo kid often have girls hanging all over them, even if they are also art freaks themselves.

Although being a rake works for me, different methods work for different people, so the first thing you need to do is figure out what kind of seducer you are. You need to figure out what you do natural that attracts girls. Then take that and work with it. You cant decided to be a dandy, you just are. I defiantly recommend giving the art of seduction a read. And if you’re not a big reader, download the audio book on iTunes.
